Description
A Super Storm Sandy survivor in late October 2012, this carousel had many overjoyed realization that not all their childhood memories had been swept into the Atlantic. The beautiful carousel built in 1910, was designed by Gustav Dentzel of Philadelphia. He collaborated with Charles I. D. Looff, a master carver who has been credited with developing the Coney Island style of carousel horses that appear to be exerting themselves as they bob up and down. It was later to be destroyed in the subsequent fire that swept the boardwalk in September 2013. The Boardwalk for me will truly never be the same.
